This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Dell Technologies as a Software Engineer Intern on the AI Outcomes team. Over the course of 12 weeks, I focused on enhancing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) by integrating a web search fallback to improve the accuracy and reliability of AI systems. Beyond the technical side, this internship gave me a firsthand look into how large-scale AI systems are developed and deployed. I deepened my skills in software engineering, learned new technologies, and collaborated across teams to solve complex problems. These were all experiences that strengthened my adaptability, creativity, and communication skills. One of the highlights of my summer was volunteering with Girls Inc. during Eureka Day, where I spoke with young girls about artificial intelligence and encouraged them to envision themselves in technology and innovation. It was an inspiring experience that reminded me of the importance of representation and mentorship in STEM fields. What I appreciated most about my time at Dell was the balance between autonomy and support. I was trusted to explore and design solutions while learning from a team that constantly challenged me to grow. This internship reaffirmed my passion for AI and my goal to continue building technology that expands access, equity, and opportunity.
