Fun Fact

I write with my right hand and paint with my left hand.

Hi! My name is Yen Dinh and I am honored to be a part of the SPIRE Fellows program. I was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and moved to Wichita Falls, Texas in second grade! I have two loving parents, an older brother and a younger brother.

My academic interests lie in the natural sciences while my pass-time interests aligns with visual arts. I am also passionate about giving back to the community, especially to those of low-socioeconomic backgrounds. Luckily, I believe I found a professional goal that aligned with all three of these passions: dentistry! More specifically, dentistry will allow me to continue learning more about the natural sciences while indulging in the artistic elements of treating cavities or working on restorative dentistry. Not only that, I can give back to the community by participating as a dentist in events such as Georgia Mission of Mercy to provide free dental treatments for those who are unable to afford it.

I am enthusiastic about good books. A few of my favorites are: The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, Spillover: Animal Infections and the Next Human Pandemic by David Quammen and Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. My all-time favorite author is Stephen King! I love being around other people, especially my friends, after a long and stressful week. I also enjoy EDM music, long car rides, food runs and rainy weather.
