Fun Fact

I know how to play the viola, piano, and flute and I am learning the guitar.

From a young age, I have always loved taking the chance to be engaged with learning astrophysics whether it was reading articles, watching documentaries, or reading books. Dark energy, black holes, and supernova―I want to learn what is out there in the universe and how it works. The universe is so large and there is little known of the physical nature and laws that act upon nature among light years of space shall it be the singularity of a black hole or the possibility of complex alien life on habitable planets. I am driven by my passion for astrophysics and my love for explaining phenomena in the world around us. I plan on pursuing a degree in physics and doing research pertaining to particle physics and astrophysics at Duke. For my long-term goals, I want to go to graduate school to get my PhD and become an astrophysicist to be able to do my own research. At Duke, I am in Amnesty International and play the viola in the Duke Symphony Orchestra. On my free time, I also like to play tennis.

What do you like about being a SPIRE Fellow?

As a part of the SPIRE Fellows program, I get to be a part of a network of faculty and students focused on STEM that will support me as I pursue my dream of becoming an astrophysicist. Through SPIRE, I have a wide range of resources to assist in my education at Duke to succeed academically.
