Fun Fact

I am addicted to coffee!!

I was born and raised in Honduras. Back home I used to play basketball and soccer and was part of the junior varsity and varsity team, I enjoyed being so close with my teammates and traveling to represent my school. My last tournament we won the national tournament for both basketball and soccer, which was a very good way of leaving the team!! In my school I was very involved in my school and was always in the student government, my last year I was Student Government President, I loved working for the student body and creating amazing projects for them. I also worked in. many service projects. I was president of a NGO called Voces de Esperanza. We work to create basic food baskets for very low income houses in Honduras. This past December we did 10,000 baskets and invited all of the mothers of the households with their kids to have a fun day in a park. We had a Santa giving toys to the kids, we gave them breakfast, they played many games and left with their basket!
   
For my future Summers, I am thinking of doing both service projects and working in big businesses where I can get exposure to different fields. I still do not know which companies I will apply to. I really want to major in Computer Science and I also love being around kids and how they learn. So, I am looking into brain development with Computer Science. 

What do you like about being a SPIRE Fellow?

What I am most excited for is being part of a community that will not only support me in my passions, but will also show me a lot more things that are out there. Also, having a place where everyone is comfortable with each other and can be themselves really excites me!
