Intended Majors Biology and Global Health
I can eat shrimp but I can’t touch it because I'm allergic! I love them anyway though.
Ever since I was in middle school I found myself wondering about public health and all the ways in which the medical care of women could be improved (trust me, there’s so many). In high school, this interest expanded to hormone pathways and how various medications affect/alter them. I find that the world of women’s health and medication could use more attention and innovation. Because of this, I am planning to study Biology with a concentration in Pharmacology, and Global Health with a concentration in Maternal and Child Health. Studying in these two areas will help me develop the scientific skills I need to continue into the next level of my education, while also feeding two of my passions.
Outside of my studies, I am a very social person that loves to meet new people. I also love to read and write any sort of poetry or fiction. When I’m not hanging out with my friends, you’ll almost never find me without music on. Additionally, I played lacrosse in high school and I still love to pick up my stick whenever I get the chance.
I love that SPIRE brings like-minded, driven, and motivated undergraduate students together with a web of mentors of all ages! It is also very important to me that SPIRE opens up doors for staff connections, research opportunities, and brilliant peers. Being a SPIRE Fellow will be an integral part of my success both at Duke and in my intended field of study, and that excites me endlessly!
