Fun Fact

I am a huge Hamilton fan.

Data is everywhere. From that statistic about your favorite football team to the startling analysis of wealth inequality in the United States, the power and impact of data analytics is evolving. The intersection between computer science and statistics is fascinating because each relies on the other to progress. I am passionate about how information sciences and and data analysis can have an impact on social issues, such as access to healthcare or alleviating the issue of food desserts in low-income areas.

At Duke, I play on the club soccer team, work with the FEMMES program to promote STEM education to elementary school girls in the Durham community, participate in the Duke University Union DevOps committee that analyzes attendance data at Duke events, and research the intersection of medicine and machine learning with the Duke + Data Science program.

During my Duke experience, I hope to gain experiences at Duke and in the community working with information sciences, hoping to pursue a career that focuses on meaningful insights and innovations for the future.

What do you like about being a SPIRE Fellow?

SPIRE encourages me and gives me the support to feel compelled to get involved in opportunities I would otherwise be hesitant to try. In having a community and program that supports me, I feel more welcome and secure in my academic aspirations.
