I can vocalize and play the flute at the same time!
I enjoy the freedom and creativity that computer science allows for, which is why I've dabbled in everything from machine learning to website design to cybersecurity. I'm a flutist, and I am currently playing for the Duke Symphony Orchestra. I also love to do graphic design and art; in high school, I spent a lot of time doing volunteer graphic design work, and now I'm looking forward to being a part of HackDuke's design team.
Persevering to produce solutions through my work taught me to have self-agency as a computer scientist, and to have a heart for those with less access. During college, I hope to be a part of STEM initiatives like SPIRE that aim to bridge the digital divide for burgeoning students who don't have the resources or financial means to pursue engineering education on their own. If I succeed in a CS career, I want to make it my mission to give back to small businesses like the one I worked at throughout my four years of high school, and make tech solutions more accessible for those who are overlooked.
I’m excited for the uplifting collaboration and community that SPIRE provides: everyone strives for their best while simultaneously supporting one another. I think that being amongst a group of such driven students will motivate me to strive toward even more ambitious goals in the tech industry.
