Mathematics Education
I can say all 50 states and capitals in 32 seconds.
I am from rural Southeastern Arkansas. As a low-income, first generation college student interested in STEM, my passions lie in higher education access as well as mathematics education. On campus, I carry the titles of advisor, mentor and tutor among other things, and I hold them all dear to my heart. I spend the majority of my time on campus working as a peer tutor or math study group leader. I also spend a lot of my time in the freshman dorms fulfilling my role as a Peer Advisor through the Academic Advising Center! Everything that I choose to do here, I do wholeheartedly. Throughout all of it, I am hoping to encourage others in their journeys and help them find the resources they need in order to help them succeed. I aspire to be a major influence on mathematics education, focusing on persistence among women and under-represented minorities in the STEM fields.
I love the constant encouragement that comes alongside with being a part of this program, from students and faculty alike.
