Fun Fact

I know American Sign Language.

As I contemplated career options, computer science and engineering peaked my interest. So with my love for math and science, I began researching to learn more about the disciplines of Engineering. I found Kode With Klossy, a summer camp that taught young girls how to code. During the summer, I attended the camp and fell in love with coding. When the program was finished, I continued to research different programs, college majors, and careers that would involve coding. Learning new applications of coding piqued my interest in the world of technology. I know my creativity, my ability to adapt quickly, my analyzing and problem solving skills would complement my interests in computer science and engineering. I am confident, being a Pratt student, my knowledge and exposure will prepare me to contribute to humanity and our global community. Learning engineering at Duke is a challenge that I am willing to strive for. I am very receptive to new things, and I am fascinated by the vast opportunities that Duke has to offer. I have always loved to solve problems and envision ways to fix things. Eventually with research opportunities, I intend to bring new, innovative ideas that lead to further scientific discovery and a sustainable future. I want to learn how to use my imagination to design and make it into a reality. Studying STEM at Duke, I will be able to learn and develop skills that will allow me to make an impact on others.

Volunteering is one of my passions as I was actively involved with the Make-A-Wish foundation, the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization and other local organizations. While volunteering with the Make-A-Wish foundation I played an active role as the treasurer. I am currently senator of The National Society Black Engineers and a member of the programming committee in the Black Student Alliance.  I enjoy collaborating socially and academically with my peers.  When not studying, I enjoy dancing, attending movies, concerts, traveling, and just simply spending time with family and friends. I also love to plan events!
