Fun Fact

My go to comfort binge watch is Avatar the Last Airbender

My college journey is shaped by two main principles: my love for STEM and my pursuit of helping others. To do this I am potentially pursuing a degree in Psychology or Neuroscience. I truly believe that the mind is the foundation to the life we live. If our mind is not healthy then everything else in our lives also begins to feel the effects of that as well. Especially during this time where we as a society are discussing mental health more openly, this topic is becoming more and more relevant.

Outside of school I enjoy volunteering. In high school I was a member of Key Club, a volunteer organization mostly focused on supporting the younger population. I want to continue to volunteer in college and join organizations that focus on that. In addition to this I am currently a member of Dukes chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Threads of Love and Care, a club that focuses on crocheting items for children in the hospital, the Blue Devil Bakers, and WISER, an organization focused on aiding women in pursuing an education.

My hobbies include finding new movies and shows to watch, some of my favorites include Hunter x Hunter, Greys Anatomy, and Love is Blind. I also enjoy watching k-dramas, some of my favorites being Alchemy of Souls and Vincenzo. I love listening to music, I am always listening to some no matter what I am doing, my current genra I am listening to is R&B and rap. I also enjoy playing badminton and occasionally tennis, even though I am not the best its always fun to get a bit physical. Lastly I really enjoy reading, and just talking. With all these different hobbies I hope to be able to find connections with a wide array of people!

What do you like about being a SPIRE Fellow?

What I like about being a SPIRE fellow is the community that it builds and the immense amount of support and resources provided. With so many different kinds of people gathered there are so many different perspectives that are provided. These perspectives will allow me to grow and develop not only in my academics but also as an individual. I also love that I will be surrounded by other people who are pursuing careers in STEM that will also understand what it takes to do that. Having their support will be invaluable.
