Mathematics, Psychology, & Education
I am a cheddar cheese connoisseur
Despite the fact that I am almost always met with shocked reactions whenever I state my career goals, I have known for most of my life that I want to work in the public school system. I strongly believe that the young minds of the future are directly shaped by their educators, and for that reason, I am eager to teach high school math upon graduation. I want to be the role model for the next generation that my teachers were for me. I have a particular interest in math because of its capacity for both objectivity and creativity and because it can be mastered by all with the correct mindset. I recently began gaining experience in the field as a substitute teacher for Johnston County Public Schools in addition to my previous tutoring experience. Outside of the classroom, I am involved in several music groups: I am a member of the Duke University Marching Band, play flute for the Saint Ann Catholic church choir, and served as a woodwind tech for the Smithfield-Selma High School Spartan Regiment. For fun, I love to go shopping (so much so that I got a retail job this summer), watch movies, attend cycle classes, and go on walks with my family.
