Fun Fact

I love music and I have been to over 40 concerts.

I have always had a relentless curiosity for the fields of math and science. The STEM fields are ever changing and constantly expanding as more and more ideas, discoveries, research, and solutions to the world’s problems are developed. I hope that I can make an impact in the STEM field myself by pursuing a career in medical research. I hope to work for an organization like the CDC, WHO, or Doctors Without Borders one day so that I can make a health impact on a global scale and promote health equality worldwide.

Outside of the classroom, I find the most joy in sports, service, and going on adventures with friends. I played soccer, lacrosse, and tennis when I was in high school and I continue to play intramural and club sports at Duke. I was a Girl Scout for 10 years and I now work with Duke ASPIRE, the hospital, and GlobeMed to try and give back to the community. Lastly, I love exploring my new home with my amazing peers by going on hikes, kayaking trips, ice skating, trips to the mountains, or just a walk through downtown Durham.

What do you like about being a SPIRE Fellow?

I like the SPIRE fellows program because it provides students with an amazing support system. It allows students with similar interests in the STEM fields with research opportunities, experiences and connections. It is nice to be surrounded by brilliant peers that have the same interests and goals and also learn from mentors and successes in the STEM fields.
