Fun Fact

I have never traveled out of California before coming to North Carolina.

I was a part of Math and Science Upward Bound during high school and during those four years, I had the chance to explore several stem fields. While some were more appealing than others, engineering was the one that stood out the most. I enjoyed every aspect of engineering. Whether it was the collaboration or the constructing, it was always the one field that kept me on my toes. As of now, I am currently undecided because I’m indecisive, but I’m leaning towards ECE. After graduating, I hope to work in the tech industry and provide support to other low-income Latinx students who are also looking into majoring in stem-fields. Currently at Duke, I am involved with SHPE where I serve as a first-year representative, Mi Gente, Robotics, and I work at the University Store.

What do you like about being a SPIRE Fellow?

The community and the resources. The community at Duke is amazing. The people are supportive, and the school spirit is alive. The resources are also phenomenal. It doesn’t take a huge effort to find help. Professors and faculty are always there whenever you need it.
